दिनांक 20 जुलाई 2024 को अतिरिक्त SI स्वर्गीय श्रीमती कांता थापा (पुत्री स्वर्गीय श्री राम बहादुर पत्नी श्री बृजमोहन सिंह निवासी ग्राम-सिमेंट हाउस, मल्लीताल, नैनीताल) जो पुलिस थाना बड़कोट उत्तरकाशी में तैनात थीं को दिनांक 18 जुलाई 2024 को कांवड़ मेला ड्यूटी के लिए हरिद्वार भेजा गया था। दिनांक 20 जुलाई 20244 को पुलिस थाना नेहरू कॉलोनी देहरादून से यह सूचना प्राप्त हुई कि हरिद्वार बाईपास फ्लाईओवर (पुलिस थाना नेहरू कॉलोनी के पास) पर एक वॉल्वो बस के चालक ने एक स्कूटी को टक्कर मार दी, जिस पर अतिरिक्त SI कांता थापा सवार थीं इस टक्कर के कारण स्कूटी बस के नीचे आ गई और अतिरिक्त SI कांता थापा की मौके पर ही मृत्यु हो गई।
